The GameMaster's Gambling RESOURCES

You might want to know what we believe, therefore:
The GameMaster Credo

Moderation is for monks." I used to say that. I guess all of us 'boomers' did. Hell, who could blame us? We grew up practicing our 'duck and cover' skills in the event of nuclear war, we mourned a young President's death, served in or protested against the military involvement in Vietnam; we watched another President resign in disgrace and saw a lot of politicians go to jail. We really DIDN'T trust anybody over 30.

Then we turned 30, then 40 and now some of us are 50. We still believe we're invincible; we still feel we're 19 or 20 (at least we still act that age) and - to a large degree - we still do what we damn well please. Smoking, drinking and gambling are things we like to do. For most of us, none of those so-called 'vices' are very important. They are not overwhelming preoccupations - they're just something we like to do now and then.

We do them in moderation. We drink a couple of glasses of wine each day (for our health and well-being), some of us enjoy a good cigar once or twice a week and it's obvious that we patronize the casinos of the world, particularly those of Las Vegas, but also in Joliet, IL and Riverside, MO and Philadelphia, MS.

And we don't apologize for it, feel guilty about it or try to 'lure' others into it. If you want a glass of wine when you come to my house, great. If you don't, you can have water or tea or coffee instead. I don't care if you have as much fun in life as I'm having. I hope you know how to enjoy yourself, but if you don't, I'm not going to change you or even try. Am I self-centered? Yes. Am I my brother's keeper? Hell, no. My 'brother' can live his life as he sees fit. I won't smoke at his house if it bothers him, but when he comes to mine, I'm lighting up.

We always were a tolerant group and we continue to be. Don't rain on my parade and I won't rain on yours. If looking at pictures of naked women bothers you - don't look. I like looking at naked women. I'm fascinated by women and can honestly say that I have enormous respect for them. (Any man raised by his mother eventually recognizes the sacrifices she made to get us to wherever we are. That creates respect for women - at least it did for me.) Lusty, self-confident women who view their bodies as something to show others are worthy of considerable respect from me.

Simply put, that's what we do here - we preach that it's OK to have fun. Enjoy life! But do it in moderation. Don't give too big an edge to the casinos when you gamble and when you drink, drink the good stuff. Eat a small steak and finish your dinner with a fine port or brandy and a damn good cigar.

If we ever produce a bumper sticker it wll say: "Getting the best out of life has little to do with money and everything to do with taste."
